Someone just sent a comment saying I am a hypocrite because I drive on roads and protest personal income tax and out of control spending.

Do the understand how roads get paid for under what budgets and what taxes are used (local and state taxes, gas, tolls, etc)?

Probably not. Just an ignorant remark, hiding behind a 'no-name' face.

Republicans "TeaBagging"

All the distracting sexual innuendos aside...  it's sad how the media has co-opted this very real, spontaneous citizen movement and taken over the story to portray it as a republican or conservative based slam on Obama.

I thought protesting the arguably unconstitutional income tax is more along the lines of the same tyranny and oppression that united us in the first place.  In fact, I don't know why we all fall prey to the ideology that a 2-party system is all that there is.   In all actuality, there is only ONE party running this show, really...RepubliCrat, as some have called it.  This fake left-right/liberal-conservative paradigm keeps us in competitive mode... better for civil strife, division and unrest than allow us time to figure out their game and actually step outside of it.

Then again, the Dept of Homeland Security does pay attention to those who stray outside the gated community, even calling out specifically for those who support 3rd party candidates.  How sad is that? http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=94803

However,  millions upon millions of Americans and freedom lovers worldwide are opening their minds and waking up to the stark reality that is upon us... not quite critical mass or enough to topple the propaganda machines and remove the shawdowy gov't running the show, but it's still hope on the horizon....and NOT the kind of hope you sell on a t-shirt or in a campaign slogan.

Fiddling while Rome Burns

I am sitting here now at the Continental Bar on 3rd Avenue and St. Marks in Manhattan, sucking down shots of Makers Mark, eating free pizza and surfing the 'net...fiddling while Rome burns.

I read a recent email from CampaignForLiberty.com talking about my home state of Michigan and the opportunity to be a delegate at the state GOP conventions and to influence the future direction of our country.

I never thought of myself as being a democrat or a republican. However, after the 2008 primaries and learning about Ron Paul, I realized a couple things. One is that our country is Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. Also, I began to think about what that means... what the Constitution represents...which is to be the guiding document and rule of law which limits the government as to how it operates.

Our current political paradigm caters only to the two party system. Independents and progressives have very little impact, get no press and even less vote. At this stage, you have to pick one side to play on in order to engage the system. Since we are a Republic and given that the word "democracy" doesn't even appear in our founding documents, it seems that the Grand Old Party is the one of choice if we are to jump into the fray.

So... the reason I write this short note is to wake myself up to the possibility of a higher responsibility. We think voting every 4 years somehow magically makes things happen. When, in my opinion and possibly in fact, the leaders are already hand picked for us as part of an illusion of choice. A huge game of good cop/bad cop. How easy is it for a "democrat" to be elected after 8 years of the Bush fiasco? Anything is better than Bush, right? Democrats will save us from the evil republicans, right?

Is Obama the "One"? Will he be our savior and fix it all? In my humble opinion, no. He won't. In fact, after limited research into his rhetoric vs. his voting record and his cabinet appointments and affiliations, one can easily see he is marching to the beat of the bankers, the elite and their goal towards a one world government...a New World Order as they call it.

I could quote and site examples, but the only way for you to realize this is to open your mind and do your own research. I can't do it for you. Nobody can. You can either watch CNN, suck at the teets of big government/big brother, hoping for change, chanting "yes we can!" or you can wake up to the Truth and start to take action. My form of action is education, information spreading and trying to provoke thought. My methods may be a little rough, but my intent is True.

So, Rome is burning. I am fiddling, getting drunk. I should be in Michigan. I should be at conventions talking about our ideals, our beliefs in a country that allows individual freedoms, has a sound monetary practices (NO FED! NO CENTRAL BANK!) and a humble non-interventionist foreign policy.

I am frustrated. It feels at times like there is nothing I can do. But I won't stop thinking about it, reading and researching, talking to fellow citizens and striving to keep our country free from a global government that would have us submit to a single authority.

Our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing. They knew that Britain was building and empire. They designed a framework for us to follow that would keep us free. It has been perverted. We most protect and defend it! That is my oath! As an American, it is should be yours as well. Together, we can restore this Republic and begin to rebuild our country again.

The Truck is back... almost

utterli-image

After spending hours at the Brooklyn Dept of Finance to wait for my number to be called and to see clerks, processors, supervisors, judges, senior judges, back to the other window people and so on.

Also after spending hours re-arguing my case, traveling on the B57 bus back and forth twice from the tow pound and downtown... I finally got tired and surrendered to their request to have me pay my back fines of $233.

The summons that was ticketed for where my disabled truck had died, and resulted in them looking me up for past fines, was dismissed due to technicality. They listed my vehicle type as "SUBN", when it is indeed registered as "P/U", a pickup. This resulted in the no charge "N/C" dismissal of the normal $185 plus $20 per day storage fees normally incurred to retrieve a vehicle from the NYPD Tow Pound. So that saved me $185.

However, when it was ticketed, they also marked it as a "targeted tow". This is a program in the city dept of finance that allows them to tow you if you are parked illegally and also have over $100 of "in judgment" unpaid parking tickets.

Normally, if you have unpaid tickets under $350, nothing happens. If you go over that limit (as stipulated on the NY Finance website), your vehicle "may be subject to tow."

Usually, at that level, the tow can be from a legal parking spot as well. Private contractors can drive around neighborhoods, looking at plates and running a list. When these guys tow you as an NYPD "marshal" representative, they charge you more than a $300 "tow charge" before you can get your car back. Not the mere $178 city charge. What a lucrative gig, this towing business.

I look up my license plate all the time to manage my tickets and make sure I am not over $350 and eligible for towing marshal pickup. But, like they told me, there is some rule that allows them to look you up for plus $100 and execute a "target tow".

I argued that since the original infraction for illegal parking, upon which all the resulting actions were predicated, is judged to be dismissed and deemed invalid, then all resulting rules and decisions are indeed non valid and unenforceable.

Therefore, the New York Department of Finance cannot enforce action on me to pay my back tickets per their "targeted tow" rules because the reason for the tow was nullified. I should have been free and clear to simply retrieve my truck, while containing to maintain my responsibility to eventually pay the $233 in back fines.

I finally waived my hands in surrender to the clerk that had offered me all the people she knew of that could make a decision in my favor. She acknowledged my valiant efforts, but neither she nor any other were convinced on my logical analysis of technical grounds for dismissal of the enforcement.

So, now the truck sits in Queens... waiting for the garage to tell me what is wrong with it. And how much it will cost??
